General Description:

Sapele is an African Hardwood that grows to a height of up to 45 m and is mainly found in Tropical Africa. Often mistaken for mahogany it is found in the rainforests of West Africa. It’s reach stretched from the Ivory Coast through to Ghana, Nigeria to the Cameroons and Tanzania.

Sapele is a timber medium to fairly dark reddish brown, typically with a well-marked stripe. Sapele dries well, and fairly rapidly without much degrading of the wood. This makes it perfect for widespread use in windows, shopfitting, and doors etc. It is often favored by joiners who use it to make stunning furniture or joinery for peoples homes. It is regarded as so attractive due to its rich dark color which makes it favorable. This signature look is often likened to mahogany but a lot cheaper!
