To boule or not to boule that is the question

One of the most popular products here at PB Hardwoods is our high-quality oak boules. These are very popular with all the local joiners and furniture makers, who want an excellent finish.

A boule is according to “Making the Grade” is:

“A stack of timber formed from a log that is sawn longitudinally by a series of successive parallel cuts with the resultant waney-edged pieces then assembled to re-create the original form of the log.”

Boules are seasoned, stored and air dried making them perfect basic pieces of timber for use outdoors. This makes them high quality, stable pieces of wood that are used for a variety of uses in and around the home.

This includes but isn’t limited to decking, flooring, kitchen making, furniture internal and external joinery. Longer lengths are also popular for stair strings and treads, wide door rails and panels of beautiful quality and character. Our boules are very popular with joiners and merchants, for this reason, particularly our oak boules. They make stunning pieces of furniture that add character warmth and depth to any home. Furniture and flooring made from a boule, especially an oak one will last for hundreds of years and retain its character.

Here at PB Hardwoods, we carry oak boules in the grades QBAA- QB3 Prime Character and Rustic. If you think that our boules may be suitable for you, then give us a call to get a quote.
